History of our wines: Riva del Molino

Riva del Molino is our most important cru among white wines, made from Garganega grapes grown in the heart of the classic Gambellara area.
The “Riva del Molino” vineyard counts vines of almost 40 years and it is one of the oldest in the classic area. The vineyard is trained to Guyot and open pergola. The altitude of the vineyard is around 150 m. above sea level.

The soil has a volcanic origin, therefore rich in tuffs and outcrop basalts that give an unmistakable minerality and light flavor to this cru.
The first harvest dates back to 2004 by the will of Luigino Dal Maso and his son Nicola.

“We wanted to give this grape and these hills the importance they deserve. Here, for example, for years we have been carrying out the pre-pruning of the shoots still with the bunches in the plant in order to arrive at the harvest with a higher concentration of aromas and structure” these are the words of Nicola Dal Maso.

The grapes are vinified in white with temperature controlled fermentation in 15 Hl French oak barrels.
After the fermentation the wine stays on its lees for about 8 months and then bottled with a light filtration.

This cru of ours is a demonstration of the great potential of the Garganega grape on the unique soil of the Montebello Vicentino hills.” continues Nicola Dal Maso.

It shows a nice straw yellow color. Full nose that ranges from honey to sweet wild flowers: chamomile, elderberry, to pleasant hints of white pulp fruit such as peach and pineapple. Wide on the palate: ripe fruit with a sweet almond and vanilla aftertaste.
A wine with 8-10 years aging potential, to be paired with the great dishes of the Vicenza and Italian tradition.
